Memory's In The Skin Assignment

Technical
In this media art piece that we did during class on our memory's that will stay with us forever like they are in our skin, I used some new techniques. For example, I learned how to feather the outside of all of my pictures after I was done cutting it out so there would be no background. Also, I learned how to add lots of layers so the picture would blend better with the rest of the photo. Another thing I learned how to do was how to combine different photos so the human eye can start at one certain spot, then move around the photo in either a circle around the outside or through the photo in a wavy motion.
Idea or concept
In this media art piece that we did during class on our memories that will stay with us forever like they are in our skin, I was planing on just winging it. But, I had a few ideas that I had for this piece, and only one of them changed. For example, I had planed on having the leviathan roller coaster from Canada's Wonderland be big and slowly fade off into the distance. And unfortunately I had to change that because there was way to much detail on the photo's so, it was almost impossible to get rid of all the backgrounds. Another idea that ended up getting changed was that I wanted to add some of the people that dressed up to scare people that went to the Halloween Haunt at Canada's Wonderland but I could not find photos that were big enough off Google Images or they picture just did not look right.
Influences
No, there was no artists that influenced my work on the assignment 'Memories In The Skin' in anyway.
Composition
In this media art piece that we did during class on our memories that will stay with us forever like they are in our skin, I pick all of my pictures that I used into a circular like shape around the edges of the space that we had to work with. I put the pictures into a circular like shape because it is the easiest way to guide the human eye around a piece of art work, For example, the artist puts one picture as the main image so your eyes knows where to start, they the eyes will move along with the movement that the artist created (some types of movement can be waves, or triangles, or circles)
What kind of emphasis and movement did you use in the work? Describe how your eye moves around the work. How does the emphasis and movement work for each individual piece and how does it work for the group as a whole?
Motivation
Going beyond the requirements of the assignment 'Memory's In The Skin', my personal motivation for my work was: just able to remember the time I spent with my Uncle when I went to Canada's Wonderland for the first time, and able to go to the Halloween Haunt for the first time (also not getting sick for being scared out of my skin in something haunted such as the mazes that were there). I was also able to remember my first time on a roller coaster, and so on.
Also going beyond the requirements of the assignment 'Memories In The Skin', my other personal motivation for my work was: being able to expand on my experience, and skills using the different types of tools that are in the Photo Shop program that we use. For example, the brushes, eraser, magnetic lasso, magic wand, the magnifying glass (being able to make the picture bigger or smaller to see better), and so on.
Critical Assessment
The elements that I feel are the most interesting about my Memory's In The Skin assignment are the vampire in the coffin in the bottom right hand corner looks like it is trapped behind bars. Also, I mostly like how the picture turned out to be creepy and haunted looking instead of chipper and happy.
Yes, there was on part of the process that surprised me a lot. This would be when my file crashed. But, in the end I was happy because it made my picture look more creepy and it gave me lots of ideas.
With additional time to improve my work I would change the brightness of the background so it would be a little brighter. Also, I would change the picture of the sub on the left hand side to something more creepy.

Media Art Paragraphs
Memories In My Skin
The first time I went toCanada 's wonderland was on thanks giving two
years ago. My Uncle August (also known as Augy) took me there for my birthday
that year. My uncle and I went to Canada 's Wonderland with his friends John and
Jen (Jen is also my cousin). I was so excited, nervous, and terrified all at
the same time. The reason for this is because during the day we planned to do
the normal rides and during the night we were going to 'The Halloween Haunt'.
The Halloween Haunt is just a bunch of 'haunted' mazes, and there normal rides.
I was known to be a scared cat when going though haunted houses and mazes
because when I was 6 years old my mom decided to take me to the 'Old Spook
House'. Then the first step I took into that haunted house someone wearing a
masked jumped out and scared me half to death. So in conclusion when I did not
make it though the maze and that whole week end I was sick.
The first time I went to
When we got to Canada 's wonderland at 7 o'clock in the morning I keep reminding my uncle
that I have never being on a roller coaster and that the first ride that we had
to go on was 'The Drop Zone'. I have no idea why I wanted to go on that ride
first because I had a fear of heights and that the second highest ride in the
whole park. But turned out to be my third favourite ride, it was so much fun. After
we that ride we went to the biggest roller coast in all of Canada 'The Leviathan' which I tried to remind
my uncle for like the 80th time that I had never being on a roller coaster and
that I was scared of heights. But know him he did not care he wanted to hit the
ride that was closest to us and that happened to be 'The Leviathan'. So, John,
Augy, and I all went on that ride while Jen stood by and watched because she
hates roller coasters. That ride was so much fun and after that ride I had the
confidence to go on any ride that John, Jen, and Augy wanted to go on. We went
on all the rides that we could before 6 o'clock (6 o'clock was when they closed the park). We played
in the arcade a few times during the day because it was raining of and on. When
we made it to the far side of the park it start raining but we did not care
much because we were already soaked to the bone so, all four of us kept going
on the rides. We finally made it to the second best ride in the whole part,
which was 'Behemoth'. It was still raining and we decided to go on it anyway. Once
we were going so fast the rain felt like ice pellets but that made it even more
fun.
When it was 6 o'clock we left the park, get supper and went
back to the park at 7 o'clock for the 'Halloween Haunt'. We gave the
people our tickets and stepped in to the park. As soon as I step in this guy
dress up as a zombie on all four jumped at me and I jumped out of my skin
because he scared me I was not expecting anyone to do that and look so real on
top of that, (Note: The people are not aloud to touch you.) we all went to the
first maze which was the corn maze. Augy said that it was the lest scary out of
all of the maze that they have there. After I got used to them I did not find
them scary. the second time that one of the actors scared me was when we went
to the maze called 'The Terror Of London' this guy jumped out from behind a
curtain to the people in front of my uncle (Note: I was holding on to the back
of Augy's sweater as I stood behind him for all the mazes), I look at the guy
who jumped out from behind the curtain and said "HI" happily with a
hint of fear in my voice. The man the went back in behind the curtain and
jumped right back out and yelled in my ear "HI". The man scared me
half to death, the man, my uncle, Jen, John and me all laughed. Also, while we
were in that maze a guy hanging out of a broken window from above us said to
Augy "I LIIIIIIKE YOUR HAT, CAN I HAAAAAVE IT". Augy looked at him
and said with an evil smirk on his face "IF YOU EVER THIN K OF TOUCHING MY HAT, YOU ARE DEAD". The
look on that mans face was so hilarious that I almost fell over laughing. At
the end of the night Augy made sure that we went on the 'Drop Zone' one more
time because he said the view from the top is awesome at night and he was
right.
In conclusion, my experience at Canada 's Wonderland and the Haunted Halloween
there will be a memory that I will always have in my skin. In other words, I
will never forget it as long as I live.
