The Corporation Homework Assgiment

The Corporation Critique
Due May 22nd

1) What is the principal purpose of this documentary?
The principal purpose of this documentary is to tell people the evil (bad) parts/things that is happening in corporation around the world.
2) What does the film critique? How do you know that?
This film is critiquing what corporations what they are, what they do, how they do it, why they do it, and how they treat those who are working for or those who are in the corporation.
3) What methods did the filmmaker use to increase public awareness about Corporate responsibility and affect people’s beliefs and behavior?
The filmmaker uses different methods to increase public awareness about Corporate responsibility and affect people's beliefs and behavior. One of the methods that the filmmaker uses is by interviewing regular everyday people. This helps to increase public awareness because other people can relate to the people that the filmmaker is interviewing.
4) Which methods of theirs did you think were most effective in supporting their position on corporate responsibility. Why?
The method that was the most effective was when they interviewed regular everyday people to support their position corporation responsibility. I say this because as I said in the last question this allows to to pay  more attention once they can relate to the people that are in the film.
5) Did you have any issues with this documentary? What were some parts that you did not agree with, or question. Why?
I only had a couple problems with this film. The first problem that I had with it was the voice of the narrater because his voice got quite annoying after awhile. Also the voice of the people on the video were very, very bla like they did not care about what they were talking about. The second problem that I had with this video was that I was way to long. They just kept carrying on, and on about basically the same thing. I think that they should of summed it up just a little more. In conclusion, I only had a couple problem with the film that made me what to stop watching it.
6) Describe another film you have watched that had an impact on your values. How and why did that happen?
Another film that I have watched that had impacted my values is Ice Age. This has impacted me because I taught me not to judge other people by what they look like that you should except everyone as family. Even if you do particularly like that person or heard bad rumors about them, you should just except them for who they are instead of shunning them out and caring once so every.

Films that change our perspectives
Media art work can serve as a catalyst for changing our perspectives or societal values. Here we are going to look at a new type documentary style that immerses the film maker into that world. Some will call this style of journalism a type of propaganda because they are pushing a particular opinion onto the viewer. Others believe it closer to "advocacy journalism,", but unlike propaganda, such efforts are dedicated to supporting their position with documentable facts. While the films do seek to "convince" their audience, they are designed to do so by getting viewers to ask questions, do research, analyse the arguments and the facts on which they are based. Like a good attorney, advocacy journalists work to put their point across, but also recognize their obligation to the truth in all its complexity and to the rules of human interaction, that put deliberate deception and misdirection out-of-bounds.
Since we are going to be finishing off the year doing film projects I thought we should
look at another type of film that in some cases
can change the perspective of the viewer.
The documentary we will be critiquing is
called “The Corporation” which takes a
look at corporate responsibility and the
lasting effects they have on us as a
society. At the end of the film there will
be questions for you to answer.

Photoshop Animation: Animator Biography

Toshiharu Sugie 
Toshiharu Sugie was born in Osaka, Japan in 1954. He is interested in studying on his free time robust control, nonlinear control, identification for control, and their application to mechanical systems. Toshiharu Sugie has published a few books. His one book won the award for 'Best Book Award' from the Society of Instrument and Control Engineers, in 1994. For another one of his book he won the 'Best Paper Award' from Society of Instrument and Control Engineers, in 1994, 200,2003, and 2007, and from the Institute of Systems, Control and Information Engineers, in 1991 and 1998.
Toshiharu Sugie has resiced three degrees in engineering from Kyoto University, in Japan. He received the 1. Bachelor of Engineering in March of 1976, 2. Master of Engineering in March of 1978, and 3. Doctor of Engineering, in July of 1985
Toshiharu Sugie worked at 5 different place. These places are:
1.Research Member of the Musashino Electric Communication laboratory of in NTT, Musashino, Japan, from April 1978 until August 1980. 
2.Research Associate, Department of Mechanical Engineering, University of Osaka Prefecture, Sakai, Osaka, Japan, from July 1984 until March 1997.

CRITICAL ANALYSIS

Fairy Tail the Movie: Phoenix Priestess

The film starts at night, in the Fire Village, where a ceremony to seal the two Phoenix Stones is being held. However, the ceremony is interrupted, as it is attacked by a group of Magic troops who killed every Mage (Wizards) who tried to defend themselves and the village. During the attack, a wounded village chief teleported himself and Éclair to a safe place where he told her to bring the Phoenix Stone to Kalard in the Boundary Forest and later died in her hands. Back at the destroyed village, two soldiers retrieve the other Phoenix Stone and gave it to their leader. After receiving the old man's instructions, Éclair starts running for her life until she falls unconscious.

In the Magic Council Headquarters, the Council members are seen holding a meeting with the Guild Masters to discuss about a mysterious Magic Power related to Zeref in the northern territories of Fiore. In break-time, Makarov comments that the meeting took way too long and requested Gajeel and Pantherlily to investigate the mysterious power.In a port town of Negura, Team Natsu (That involves Natsu, Erza, Grey, Lucy, Wendy, Happy, and Carla) accepts a job request posted by the town's mayor, with the mission being to capture Geese, a leader of a bandit group. During their fight against Geese's men, Geese manages to get away, angering the mayor who refuses to pay the reward since the mission was a failure.
Returning home, Lucy encounters Éclair and her birdlike companion Momon. Upon passing each other, Éclair collapses to the ground so Lucy brings her to the Fairy Tail guild hall to recover. Hearing a premonition from Carla, Éclair leaves to enter the monster filled Boundary Forest. Lucy and her friends offer to accompany Éclair to protect her. Éclair then tells them about her aversion to Mages (Wizards) and Magic, but reluctantly agrees.
Meanwhile in the Principality of Veronica, Prince Cream hires Carbuncle to capture Éclair who has the other Phoenix Stone in reward of 400 million Jewels (money) plus fees of protecting the duration of the ceremony. In a bar, as Cannon and Coordinator comment about the nature of the job, Dyst sends Chase to track down and capture the girl and declares that they'll put their guild's reputation at stake as he telekinetically lifts his drink and cheers with his guildmates not realizing that their conversation was being eavesdropped by Gajeel and Pantherlily on the other side of the bar.
In a train, Natsu and his friends travel to the magnificent city of Rose Garden where they enjoy their free time except for Éclair, to whom her duty was the most important. In theHills Hotel, Lucy, Éclair and Momon are attacked by Chase after Lucy finishes taking a shower. Lucy, who was wearing just a towel, grabs Éclair and Momon and escapes the hotel room from Chase and then gets rescued by Natsu, Gray and Happy. After the attack, Lucy asks Éclair if she knew who the attacker was and accidentally gets nude when she stands up, embarrassing herself and the others.
Éclair tells Lucy and her friends that she has amnesia, and remembers she must bring the mystical Phoenix Stone in her possession to a Mage named Kalard living in Boundary Forest. They eventually reach the remains of Kalard's House to find out that he was long dead. Through a holographic message, Kalard reveals himself to be Éclair's father and tells her of a spell he created to dispel the stone's cursed magic. Upon hearing her father's message, Éclair starts crying but is then comforted by Lucy, who tells her she had the same experience. After that, Éclair starts to warm herself towards Fairy Tail and requests them to fulfill her father's last wish. Shortly after returning back to the guild, the guild hall is attacked by Carbuncle Mages who manage to kidnap Éclair and take her stone.
Fairy Tail's master Makarov Dreyar and fellow members Gajeel Redfox and Pantherlily then arrive with the news of Carbuncle's activity. The guild learns that there are two Phoenix Stones, one of which is in the possession of Prince Cream, who plans to combine the stones and summon the Phoenix who will grant him immortality. Team Natsu, along with Gajeel, Pantherlily, and Juvia Lockser go to Veronica to rescue Éclair, defeating Dyst's subordinates there, but not Dyst himself. Meanwhile, Cream combines the two stones and tries to burn Éclair as a sacrifice, as a sentence from breaking his nose earlier. Momon frees Éclair but burns to death.
As Cream summons the Phoenix, Dyst blasts him away to attain immortality for himself. The "Phoenix" was revealed to be a giant, metal monster, who starts destroying everything around it. Dyst climbs on its back in order to obtain its blood to grant him eternal life. Laxus and the Thunder God Tribe then arrive to assist Natsu in stopping the Phoenix. Natsu follows Dyst and defeats him, but the Phoenix continues to rampage the country. After Natsu defeats Dyst, more Fairy Tail members arrive, assisting the others in destroying the Phoenix.
Makarov arrives in Veronica with the rest of Fairy Tail, who begin attacking the Phoenix. Makarov gives Erza the Arrow of Haja, a magic arrow created by Kalard and stolen from the Magic Council, to destroy the Phoenix Stone and the Phoenix. Meanwhile, Éclair tells Lucy that she has regained her memories, telling her that she is immortal, having been living for 400 years after drinking the phoenix's blood to survive the raid on her village where Cream's ancestors took one of the stones and formed Veronica. Makarov explains that, by destroying the Phoenix Stone, it will kill Éclair along with the Phoenix. Despite Lucy's protests, Éclair accepts her fate. Erza fires the arrow into the Phoenix's eye where the Phoenix Stone is located, with Natsu jamming the arrow further through until it pierces the stone. Upon the destruction of the Phoenix, Éclair's body fades away along with it, and her spirit reunites with Momon's as they ascend to the sky as a true Phoenix forming the guild mark of Fairy Tail.
The film ends as Natsu consoles the grief-stricken Lucy over Éclair's death, comforting her with his words and holding her close to him. As the credits start to role, a montage is then played, showing the people of Veronica rebuilding their homes, surviving members of Carbuncle sitting among the ruins, Fairy Tail members repairing their guildhall and Lucy smiling as she spots Éclair's spirit among the townsfolk in Magnolia.

Title Of Animation is: Tik, Tik Boom!

TECHNICAL
In my animation I used a couple new techniques and steps that I never used before. These new techniques and steps are: 1) I used a application that was called timeline, that enabled me to use different layers, and timing to make the video. 2) When using the timeline I was able to learn how to add sound affect.

IDEA OR CONCEPT
For my animation I had a few ideas in my mind. I wanted to be able to have my ball that bounces twice be in the shape of a cartooned bomb. Then after i was done designing the bomb I work on how I wanted it to bounce (arcs, squash, and stretch). After I was done that, I had to decide on what I wanted the ball to done after it was done bouncing. So I decided that I want it to explode.
My ideas changed just slightly. For example, I make the bomb change into a colorful firework, instead of the bomb just exploding into nothing.

INFLUENCES
No, there was no artist that influenced my work once so every.

COMPOSITION
The way that the animation helps you to move you eyes around the piece is by how and where the ball bounces around the screen. Allowing you to see what the ball is doing while you can look at the background.

MOTIVATION
My personal motivation that was beyond fulfilling the requirements of the assignment was to learn new techniques, and tools. So, I can expand my knowledge on Photoshop so, I will be able to make more little animations into the future.

CRITICAL ASSESSMENT
The element that I find that are the most interesting and successful is, the design of the ball (the bomb), and the arcs, stretch, and squash elements.
Yes, one part of the assignment did surprise me. The part would be when the bomb explodes into a colorful firework. I found that this part did not turn out a well a I expected but, it works.
With additional time I think that I would change the part when the bomb explodes into a colorful firework.

After watching the film choose 2 questions from the list to answer and hand in on May 4th.

2. Through Chihiro’s transformation from miserable little girl to courageous adventurer, the film suggests that the world of the spirits is necessary to help us live in the everyday world, that spiritual development is part of the solution to environmental crises. What do you think about this?

I do agree with this because in my opinion, with out the spirit world we humans would just always feel sorry for ourselves and would not know what to do with ourselves. The reason why I say this is because the spirits from the spirits world help us through guidance, and can some times save our lives. For example, when something tragic happens to you and you are feeling sad then the spirits can help guide you to a happier life so you are not down for the rest of your life.

4. The character No Face (the one with the white mask who eats everything) can easily be taken as a critique of consumer society, but No Face earns a happy ending. What do you think of Miyazaki’s solution to the endless appetite of the modern world?

In my opinion Miyazaki's solution to the endless appetite of the modern world is to except everyone as equals. She demonstrates this by excepting No Face as a friend and a very help person/spirit. For example, she shows that no matter how different someone is or what their history is like. In conclusion, Miyazaki's solution to endless appetite of the modern world is to except everyone as equals.

Art Video Game Reflection

Memory Art Game about Discrimination Against Woman

TECHNICAL
When I was working on this assignment, I leaned a few new techniques when using the program 'Adobe Flash Professional CC 2014'. These techniques are: Inserting key frames, importing photos to the program, and changing text colour, font, size and the background.
IDEA OR CONCEPT
At the beginning of the Art Video Game my plans were:
An object that could represent 'Discrimination Against Girls' is pots and pans. This affects are world in many ways. Three ways that this could affect this world is by: 1) Girls mainly in Afghanistan do not
learn about how to read, write, or anything else that happens during school. 2) Sexist Men still think that there wife should stay at home and do the cooking, cleaning, take care of children, and shopping. 3) Sexist Men believe that woman should not be doing a mans job: such as plumbing, carpenter, and farmer.
This affects the world because those woman will never now what it is like to earn money herself for her family/ never be able to do what see loves most.
What I can use for each section are,

In the end some of my ideas changed. Some examples of this are: 1)For the instruction page i put a girl looking at her computers while talking on the phone. Instead of a bunch of different photos of girls doing guys jobs. 2)For the cards I use a girl walking away from school, a woman standing waiting for her husband to eat, a woman shopping with her child, a woman going crazy with her kids playing, a woman cleaning while her husband just sits watching television, a woman bring food for her husbands and his friends, and lastly a woman putting away her child's toys. Instead of girls holding books in a hallway, woman cooking, woman cleaning, woman going crazy taking care of her kids, woman being forced to stay at home, and woman shopping for food. 3)For the background I have a star background with hand holding the earth. Instead of a girl being confused in the kitchen.

INFLUENCES
There were no artists or anyone that has influenced my work in anyway.

COMPOSITION
I emphasized the losing page by picking a picture that is in black and white picture of a pouting little girl.
I emphasized the winning page by putting a girl that is so happy that she is on her knees crying.
I emphasized the home page by putting the world in outer space. Also, I putting the symbol for males and females to say that this problem is not just in one country it is everywhere.

MOTIVATION
My personal motivation beyond the requirements of this assignment is that I know so many people that are friends of my family that are females who have sexist husbands. They are hardly ever aloud to leave the house, they are supposed to stay home and do all the house work, i.e. cooking and cleaning, etc. So my motivation stemmed from my need to make their husbands (and husbands/men like them) see that the way they treat women is wrong and extremely out-dated; they need to get the hint that it's the twenty first century.

CRITICAL ASSESSMENT
I think that the most interesting and successful elements of the game is the backgrounds on the home page, winning page and the losing page.
The thing that surprised me the most are how well the combination of the pictures for the home page combined together. Also, throughout the process I had no idea what to do for the cards.
With additional time I think that I would change most of the pictures for the cards and the how to play page background.

Art Video Game Brainstorming

a)Possible Themes
  • Endangered Africa Animals (people killing the animals for there skin, tusks, teeth, and so on)
  • Discrimination Against Girls (girls cant: go to school in some countries, certain jobs like pluming, electrician, carpenter. They should stay in the house and not get a job.)  
  • Discrimination Against Homeless/ people that need food banks

c) I am most interesting in turning this into an art video game because i wish to make everyone aware that sexism and discrimination is still an ongoing occurrence, thereby making it still a problem today.
